History​ and Purpose

 

During the financial downturn of 2008, there was a significant increase in scholarship requests from families experiencing financial hardship. To help meet the needs of the community, The Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation, Inc (RRPFI) was created.

 

RRPFI is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers and established to help ensure all families could participate in City recreation programs, regardless of their ability to pay. The City of Rockville strives to be responsible stewards of taxpayer funds and has a number of important priorities. The Foundation provides scholarship assistance for families in need, and if there are not enough resources available to provide equipment or supplies, the Foundation helps to bridge the gap. The Foundation is run by a volunteer Board of Directors.
